Biogas digestate granulation lines
Digestate: an alternative organic fertilizer and renewable fuel
Nawrocki Pelleting Technology designs and manufactures complete plants for granulation of digestate from biogas plants with a capacity of even 1 t/h to 12 t/h. In the case of smaller biogas plants, we offer mini Granulation Lines with a capacity of 0.25 t/h. They have the full functionality of industrial lines, but at a much lower price.
100% use and return to the environment
Granulate from digestate is up to 15GJ/t of clean energy
The use of dry waste from biogas plants as a raw material for the production of energy pellets is an excellent alternative to wood sawdust. Granulated digestate can be a substitute for other expensive fuels in many industries - including pellets from forest biomass, where the highest quality of granulate is not required and a slightly higher ash content is not an obstacle.
The calorific value of pellets from digestate is 15 MJ/kg (pellets from sawdust is 17 MJ/kg). Its mechanical properties allow for compaction up to 700 kg/m3 compared to 640 kg/m3 in the case of wood pellets with a similar durability of about 99%.
The resulting product in the form of granules with uniform properties is easy to transport, store and use in pellet burners. It is just as convenient in dosing and combustion control as wood or agro granules.
Interestingly, the ash after burning the digestate granulate contains many valuable minerals that can be used as a fertilizer.
Advantages of digestate granulate
non-obtrusive odor,
transport costs lower by over 70%,
easy to use when using
standard fertilization equipment,
no significant changes in organic carbon content,
high calorific value as a solid fuel,
significantly lower costs and storage space.
Granulated Fertilizer from Digestate and the Issue of Organic Farming
In an era of increasingly mature consumer awareness and the exponential growth in the popularity of organic products, the use of natural fertilizers will be a necessity, not just an alternative.
Research has shown that the use of fermentation fertilisers improves soil fertility and increases the amount of valuable nutrients.
Applications of digestate granulate
Biogas plant granulate can be used as fuel in the following technologies: combustion, torrefaction, gasification, pyrolysis. It can also be used as an organic fertilizer that can be refined with mineral substances.

What challenges and opportunities does the transformation of the energy and agricultural sectors towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions bring? In an era of growing environmental awareness and the need to optimize the use of natural resources, innovative technologies such as biogas digestate granulation lines seem to offer an answer to these pressing questions. This process not only enables efficient waste processing, but also transforms it into a valuable source of renewable energy and organic fertilizers.
Biogas digestate granulation lines
The Nawrocki company has been designing and manufacturing complete digestate granulation lines for many years. These lines are adapted to various production requirements, offering efficiency from 0.25 t/h to 12 t/h, which allows for flexible adjustment to the needs of both small and large biogas plants.
The most important feature of granulated digestate is its high calorific value, reaching 15 MJ/kg, which makes it competitive with traditional fuels such as wood pellets. Equally important are the mechanical properties of the granulate, which allows its densification to 700 kg/m3. This is comparable to the parameters of wood pellets.
The use of such granulate is versatile – from combustion in technologies such as torrefaction or pyrolysis, to use as an organic fertilizer. An interesting aspect is also the possibility of refining the granulate with mineral substances, which increases its value as a fertilizer.
One of the significant advantages of granulate from digestate is also its impact on the environment - not only is it a renewable product, but it also provides a significant reduction in transport costs (up to 70%) and storage compared to other energy resources. Additionally, its use does not significantly affect changes in the organic carbon content in the soil.
Digestate granulation lines represent a modern approach to waste management and energy production that has the potential to bring significant benefits both at the micro (local biogas plants) and macro scale (national and international energy and agricultural networks). By supporting the development of such technologies, we can significantly contribute to the sustainable development and protection of our planet.
